I decided that for this “True Story Tuesday”, (yes I wrote this Wednesday and you’re probably reading it Thursday, play along please) I will post a
little less doom and gloom. Now a quick warning: if you believe that animals, the environment and nature are a separate and disconnected “other” and that the natural world is nothing more than “
resources” for exploitation, this story is not for you. I would advise you to go back to diddling your Gameboy or whatever it is the “civilized” are “supposed” to do. However, if you’re like me, you have discovered the sacred interconnectedness of everything. You have also realized that from polar bears “down” to plankton we are related. You also recognize that an assault on the natural world is an assault on us and everyone we
love, (hey, do you have cancer yet? How about someone you love?) Well this quick story might give you a little smile.
I’d like to dedicate this to every burnt out animal rights and environmental activists. It’s also dedicated to a certain persecuted professor whose real “crime” was to tell the truth about the American Indians experiance. The star of this short, but sweet, tale of nature pushing back bares his name.

Day by day it becomes more clear that the earth itself and its wild members are beginning to fight back, and day by day they more strongly beckon us to join them.” - Derrick Jensen
I like that quote. Here’s my true story of a deer I have named Ward for this tale…
